Methadone Detox - Recovery

Methadone Detox  - Recovery

Methadone

Increasingly more individuals who have taken the path to several Methadone clinics as a "treatment" for heroin dependency are consuming doses  from one hundred fifty mgs to three hundred mgs daily of methadone.

At some point in time, they make up one's mind that they are not able to safely operate where they work and other places in general and would like to cease from taking any more of the methadone.

Nonetheless, most people taking methadone discover that when they try to "ween off" or terminate this all in all, that the painfulness of the drug withdrawal is overly way too much and they most likely resume where they left off re-taking methadone either at the same dose as before or an even higher dose altogether.

We're going to discuss what Methadone A.K.A. (dolophine hydrochloride) is and what it's not. Then we'll set off a certain program or schedule if you want to call it that , which should let methadone addicts to  withdraw from methadone on your own, or go to a detox center (which is always the most recommended 1st choice).

I personally never took methadone but from my research on the Internet, i have discovered you can do it both ways but only if you do it the right way.

But, again, nonetheless , i WILL always  recommend a detox center where you will be supervised and medicated properly. Again, this is just my personal opinion.

THE METHADONE LETDOWN

Methadone is advertised as the "resolution" for individuals who are addicted to heroin or even OxyContin--legal heroin.  The conception is simple-minded.

Below are a few of the "marketing" details applied to rationalize giving somebody who's addicted to a horrific drug an even more habit-forming and serious drug called "Methadone":

•It will prevent the irritating withdrawal symptoms for up to twenty-four hrs or some of the times even of a  longer period of time.

•There is no requirement for using any needles

•It's considered legal

•It's cheap

•It won't expect individuals to perpetrate felonious human activities to get it and to find the income to buy it

•It's received at a commercial business enterprise area and not in some scary dark gloomy back street

•It's usually made up by a company and not blended with other unidentified additives like heroin is

•It will provide for you to hold on to your employment

•It's "socially" accepted.

Nonetheless, there's additional info more or less about  methadone that isn't advertised but is genuine.

Methadone:

• It's more habit-forming than heroin or OxyContin

• It's harder to detox from than heroin or OxyContin

• It's seldom effectual as a drug to assist individuals to escape and finally get the hell away from drugs altogether because they just can't bear the painfulness if they stop consuming it

• It's frequently consumed simply to prevent withdrawal symptoms, and numerous methadone drug users will consume additional drugs like Xanax also known as (alprazolam) or booze up on some sort of alcoholic beverage to get some kind of a "high"

• It's very dangerous when mixed with alcohol or other drugs

• It's going to produce a few very unasked side effects, several of which are set off in The Methadone Prison

• It's frequently expanded to degrees as high as two hundred mgs daily, and dosage quantities in excessiveness of a hundred mgs daily are of recent starting to become the "normal" thing

Listed below are some Drawbacks that are known to going to Methadone clinics

• They are Frequently located several miles away from the methadone user

• They often expect the user to get in ahead of time and await in line to get their dosage of methadone

• Most of the times they  are in unpleasant and scary regions of the town or city to get it

• Oftentimes, there are those drug dealers in those methadone clinic areas who try to sell methadone users other drugs (which, of course, is very tempting)

• A lot of the times you will notice that they will increase your typical dose of methadone rather than assisting the methadone user to  deal with their troubles as a whole

• They often are scornful if somebody on methadone says that they would like to stop using methadone (which I find very curious)

• They often show the individual that stopping methadone isn't such a good idea by not slowly "weaning" off the methadone but by cutting down the dosage, which they acknowledge that this will place the individual into grueling withdrawal symptoms

• They often see a methadone user as a source of profits and just another source of making more money and forgetting altogether that the person really needs help ( this irritates me the most! )

GETTING OFF A  HIGH DOSAGE OF METHADONE ON ONE'S OWN

Now, again, I do not recommend this but I must add this to this article because there are always going to be those people who say to themselves: ... " Naaa... I can do this by myself...I don't need any detox clinic to get off this shit..."

Anyway, below are some suggested ideas to accomplish this if you do decide to do it on your own:

While methadone is really habit-forming, people can withdraw from this drug on one's own.

It won't be a simple task to do though.  It will take some time. It won't be without uncomfortableness but it can be done.

The following is a program that should work:

• Make the conclusion that you're going to get off  and away altogether from methadone even though it's not all of the time going to be a comfortable task and is going to involve at least a 6 to 10 month commitment

• I would suggest to properly educate yourself about how methadone acts out inside your body by reading about endorphins

• When you've arrived at your final decision to quit this crap, then acknowledge that this is going to be a straining attempt and the more beneficial that your human  body is working, the easier the withdrawal should be

• Try to find an alternate medicine medical Dr. who will give you a thorough going physical, and if there are physiologic troubles won't just prescribe a drug but try to find an genuine treatment of the cause of the problem

• When you've obtained a DR. that works for you, make sure to tell the Dr. that you plan to withdraw from methadone and would like to make certain that you're physically in good shape

• If the doctor finds physiologic troubles, then handle them and do not begin your withdrawal till the Dr. feels that you're ready

• Ask the Dr. about IM (intra-muscular) interjected vitamins

• Hydration is really crucial so you need to address to the Dr. about incurring intravenous feeding for hydration and to start working up the body up with vitamins, good healthy foods and nutrients prior to and during your withdrawal

Have the Dr. advise you on:

• How to supervise your own blood pressure, temperature and heartbeat;

• What to do if your blood pressure level, temperature or heart rate is away from the range and area it should be in

• When to take any medications the doctor prescribes to control "spikes" in temperature, blood pressure level and heart rate as they happen while you are withdrawing

•You should read about the importance of hydration

•Get rid of sodas, beer and liquors and cut down on your consumption of coffee and tea since these are diuretics and will reduce the amount of hydration

•Begin some sort of  exercise program - even if it's just walking around for at least 10 mins. to help progress the health of the body and ready it for the withdrawal

•Make sure to find a Dr. Who's authorized to prescribe Suboxone and make an appointment

•Prior to the appointment read about Suboxone

•Explain to the Suboxone Dr. that you're going to withdraw from methadone and when you've cut down on your dosage to between fifty and sixty mgs of methadone, that you desire to start on Suboxone and then not maintain but start tapering off Suboxone

•If the Suboxone Dr. Isn't willing to assist you to "weaning" off of Suboxone ( some just would like to maintain you), then find another Dr. who will assist in your "weaning" off process

•You shouldn't try to reduce your methadone dose more than 2.5 mgs every 2 weeks for the first 2 months and then, if it's going well, you will be able to increase the reducing in dose to five mgs every 2 weeks

•If you're on a hundred mgs of methadone and would like to reduce your dosage to fifty mgs, then your withdrawal will take about 6 months once you start

•Go to the methadone clinic and explain what you've done and ask them for assistance

•Because there will be several days where you'll in all probability not feel good during this withdrawal, make certain to verbalize with your family and your employer and let them know what you're going to be doing so that they'll understand

•Once you're down to fifty mgs of methadone, go to the Suboxone doctor

•Once you're on Suboxone, continue at the same dose for at least thirty days before starting to reduce the daily dose

•Then start reducing the daily dose of Suboxone by one mg per week until you're tapered off

•During this time, follow your exercise routine and the intravenous feeding

•You'll be able to succeed in less than 10 months from a hundred mgs a day, but it can take twelve to eighteen months if you're on a higher dosage.

Good Luck on Which Way You Choose to Get Off of Methadone!
